In Logto, first-party apps share a unified authentication experience within the same domain, using the same user credentials, and automatically granting all permissions based on the access control settings.

Third-party apps are external or partner services not directly affiliated with the identity provider, and thus, they cannot be trusted implicitly. Third-party apps employ their Auth systems and acquire user authentication from the IdP via Single Sign-On (SSO), which necessitates requesting limited permissions from the IdP and requires manual approval by the user during the Auth flow.
